Entering a new year is both a pleasant and sad sensation - it is pleasant because you are excited to see what the new year brings and it somewhat sad to realize you have become one year older in what seems only a blink of an eye. Time really flies too fast, I fear not savouring every day enough. However, in the company of good friends and when enjoying three men's work in the kitchen all day preparing the five course dinner it is easier to focus more on the bright sides of entering a new year and not dwell so much on the inevitable tristess and 'melancolia'.
